Well before the winner for Best Actress was revealed at the 2024 Oscars on Sunday night, three of the esteemed nominees for the category shared a touching moment.
Emma Stone from ‘Poor Things’, aged 35, Annette Bening, lead of ‘Nyad’, aged 65, and Lily Gladstone, known for her role in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, aged 37, exchanged a heartfelt embrace during a commercial break at the 96th Academy Awards.
The trio was joined by Margot Robbie from ‘Barbie’, aged 33, who, despite being widely acknowledged by fans and critics, did not make it to the list of Best Actress nominees.
While not part of the embrace, the other two Best Actress nominees, Sandra Hüller, aged 45, from ‘Anatomy of a Fall’, and Carey Mulligan, aged 38, from ‘Maestro’, were also present at the event.
Later in the evening, Emma Stone emerged victorious, taking home the Best Actress award.
The awards season has forged a unique bond among the Best Actress nominees, particularly between Stone and Gladstone. In Vanity Fair’s 2024 Hollywood Issue, Gladstone shared that she and Stone have developed a close friendship, even exchanging matching friendship rings, humorously dubbed their “Infinity Stones.”
“We call each other Infinity Stones,” Gladstone mentioned. “Then she sent me a picture of her wearing the same one. That’s our thing.”
The 96th Academy Awards are being broadcasted live on ABC.
