At the American Black Film Festival Honors in Los Angeles, original Saturday Night Live cast member Garrett Morris offered exclusive insights into his conversation with Lamorne Morris regarding the portrayal of Morris in the upcoming SNL film, titled 1975. “When I was inside in that life, I was 39 years old and the rest [of the cast], they had just come out of high school and college,” Garrett explained, highlighting the generational gap that Lamorne will need to convey in his portrayal. He emphasized the need for Lamorne to capture the essence of an older Black man striving to assert his presence and talent in a competitive and sometimes unwelcoming environment.
