Joel McHale recently discussed the highly anticipated ‘Community’ movie, bringing hope to fans that it’s closer than ever to becoming a reality. In an interview with Deadline, McHale mentioned co-star Donald Glover’s confirmation that the script is complete, sparking excitement among the cast and crew.
While McHale hasn’t read the script yet, he teased some story details, jokingly suggesting a journey to the center of the earth. However, Glover previously revealed that the film centers around a college reunion, with Abed Nadir, played by Danny Pudi, now a successful director presenting his magnum opus.
In a more serious tone, McHale expressed his belief that the ‘Community’ movie will indeed shoot this year, emphasizing that scheduling revolves around Glover’s availability. He expressed confidence in the project’s progression and joked about the differences between the ‘Community’ and ‘Animal Control’ casts.
Despite his playful banter, McHale praised Ken Jeong’s performance on ‘Animal Control,’ acknowledging his comedic talent. Reflecting on ‘Community’s’ history, McHale highlighted its loyal fan base and the accolades it received throughout its run.
Peacock announced the ‘Community’ movie in 2022, with plans to begin shooting in June of the following year. While those plans didn’t materialize, the cast, including McHale, Pudi, Brie, Jacobs, Rash, Jeong, Brown, and Glover, remains committed to the project, eagerly anticipating its realization.
