New York Philharmonic to Perform ‘Maestro’ Excerpts with Bradley Cooper Discussion

NEW YORK (AP) — On February 14, the New York Philharmonic will present musical excerpts from the Academy Award-nominated film “Maestro,” which delves into the life of former music director Leonard Bernstein. Following the performance at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall, Bradley Cooper, the movie’s star and director, will engage in a post-performance conversation. Metropolitan Opera music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, who coached Cooper for the film and conducted the music for the soundtrack, will make his New York Philharmonic debut by leading the performance and joining the conversation.

The program will feature selections from Bernstein’s notable works, including “West Side Story,” “Candide,” “On the Town,” “Trouble in Tahiti,” “A Quiet Place,” “Chichester Psalms,” and Bernstein’s Symphony No. 2 “The Age of Anxiety” and Symphony No. 3 “Kaddish.”

“Maestro” earned seven Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Bradley Cooper.
